This version of the Futura Fork gets its namesake from the famous Columbus SLX tube set which, in the 1980s, raced alongside hundreds of professional teams, who were often in yellow, pink and rainbow jerseys! Within the Futura fork range, "SLX" specifically refers to Columbus's models with an 1 1/4" oversized crown.

If you are looking for a fork for a custom-built metal or alloy frame, the SLX 1 1/4" crowned fork may be a good choice as it combines the benefits of a larger diameter, but constrained proportions, which match with the more elegant lines and shapes which you often see on custom frames. Additionally, the SLX Caliper also offers in an increased tyre clearance of 28mm plus the added option of mounting a light racing style mudguard for commuting and winter training.
