It’s black and stays black. KMC BlackTech is not a simple coating, but a surface treatment in which the colour becomes part of the material. The process is two-step - firstly, each individual chain component is treated and then the process is repeated with the assembled elements. The chain thus permanently retains its rich black colour and is also highly resistant to rust.
